Dr. Amber Hyatt grew up in Deville, Louisiana. As a first generation college student she is very passionate about education. She graduated from Upper Iowa University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Master of Higher Education. After the completion of her master’s degree she attended Louisiana Christian University for her teaching certification through the Teaching Education Alternative Certification Honors (TEACH) Program for certification in first-fifth grades and general mild/moderate Special Education. She earned her Doctor of Education in K-12 Leadership from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Prior to her work in higher education she served as an educator in the K-12 public school system. She has taught kindergarten, special education, and inclusion for math, science, and social studies. She now teaches at the collegiate level preparing future teachers for the classroom. Her specialization area is Special Education and her research is focused on the Effects of Childhood Trauma on Educational Attainment. She is married to Daniel and they have 6 children all of which Learn Differently.

Students with Dyslexia do not always require special education services but intervention does help them succeed.
